Business Start-up Tips

•Believe in your product Buy into your own vision and don’t waiver it just for a pay check. You know your vision better than anyone else, and if you loose sight of it, the world will too. “It is your vision that will give you success, not your venture capitalist’s vision.” •Produce something of use Build the best product you can, and make sure it has long-term value. This is something successful organisation always focuses on achieving. If you get into business solely to make money, you won’t. If you try to make a real difference, you’ll find true success. •Invest in what's going to scale your business Identify exactly what you need to grow your company. Is it technology, engineering, infrastructure, etc? Then put it in place. “Don’t put people on the ground for that sake of putting people on the ground.” •Hire the right people “If you get the input right, the output is far easier to manage.” Your organization should get to t...

Prof. Dora Akunyili is finally dead!

On behalf of the Akunyili’s family, I wish to officially confirm the death of Prof. (Mrs.) Dora Nkem Akunyili, OFR, in a Specialist Cancer Hospital in India this morning at 10 am, Nigerian Time, after a two-year battle with cancer. In spite her illness, Prof. Akunyili was unwavering in her belief in a better Nigeria. That was why she defied her condition and was part of Anambra State Handover Committee and the National Conference. The last time I visited her in India, even when she needed all the prayers herself, she was full of concern for the abducted Chibok girls, security and other challenges facing the country and told me that she remained prayerful for the release of those girls and for God to help President Goodluck Jonathan to overcome all the challenges facing the Nation. She therefore urged all Nigerians to remain prayerful and committed to building a better society for our children. We all prayed together and I promised to be visiting her every month. We thank all ...

Staggering statistics of unemployment in Nigeria

80% Of Nigerian Youths Are Unemployed – CBN Official Posted by Michael Akins Jun 6th, 2014 The Central Bank of Nigeria on Thursday brought to the front burner the issue of youth unemployment in the country as it said 80 per cent of Nigerian youths are without jobs. Nigeria draws again!

Greece 0-0 Nigeria: Boring draw between World Cup bound duo The Super Eagles and the Ethniki played out a goalless draw ahead of their trip to brazil for the summer's big fiesta By Shina Oludare Posted by Michael Akins on 4th June 2014 at 7.00am Nigeria continued their good form ahead of the World Cup with a 0-0 draw against Greece on Wednesday. Stephen Keshi’s men survived a demanding test from a solid side, building on last week’s 2-2 draw against Scotland at Craven Cottage. Nigeria wasted a number of openings in an entertaining game at the PPL Park in Chester, Pennsylvania and their inability to convert begging chances ensured the Greek side grew in confidence to cause moments of panic for the Super Eagles. The African champions made a lively start and won a free kick in the 10th minute as Victor Moses was brought down after breezing past three defenders with the resulting free kick wasted by Emmanuel Emenike. Though Fernando Santos’s men were pegged down by the ...

'The African Messi' & other potential World Cup stars By Chris Bevan - BBC Sport Posted By Michael Akins on 4th June 2014 There are plenty of potential stars of the 2014 World Cup - and many new faces too. The squads are unlikely to provide many surprises; the days when the tournament would introduce unknown players to a global audience are, largely, gone. But the crop of young talent heading for Brazil this month will still be hoping to make a big impression at what, for some, will be their first finals. Some are familiar, others less so. Here they are: James Rodriguez, Colombia Age: 22 Club: Monaco Position: Midfielder Nickname: 'El Nuevo Pibe' (The New Kid) Steve Wilson: James Rodriguez is an outstanding young playmaker and is nicknamed 'El Nuevo Pibe' (the new kid) in Colombia in tribute to Carlos Valderrama, who was known as 'El Pibe' (the kid). Brazil will be a very big stage for him and maybe by the next World Cup he will be ...

WHY ANDROID PHONES CONSUME MORE - NCC REVEALS

NCC reveals reasons Android users pay more for data (READ) By Bankole Jamgbadi Posted by Michael Akins on 2nd June, 2014 Nigerian Telecoms’ apex regulatory agency, Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC) has revealed the reasons why users of Android smart phones and tablets pay more for data in Nigeria. The commission says it is not turning a deaf ear to the lamentations of Nigerians noting that the differences in data allowance for Android and Blackberry users have been generating a lot of controversy among consumers of late. NCC via its official Facebook page stated that while BlackBerry indirectly subsidises bandwidth for its users by compressing the content downloaded, Android downloads and consumption was not compressed therefore leading to the expending of more bandwidth.
