What's exactly wrong about gambling?

Posted by Admin Question : "Is gambling a sin? What does the Bible say about gambling?" Answer : The Bible does not specifically condemn gambling, betting, or the lottery. The Bible does warn us, however, to stay away from the love of money (1 Timothy 6:10; Hebrews 13:5). Scripture also encourages us to stay away from attempts to “get rich quick” (Proverbs 13:11; 23:5; Ecclesiastes 5:10). Gambling most definitely is focused on the love of money and undeniably tempts people with the promise of quick and easy riches. What is wrong with gambling? Gambling is a difficult issue because if it is done in moderation and only on occasion, it is a waste of money, but it is not necessarily evil. People waste money on all sorts of activities. Gambling is no more or less of a waste of money than seeing a movie (in many cases), eating an unnecessarily expensive meal, or purchasing a worthless item. At the same time, the fact that money is wasted on other things does not justif...

David Wilkerson: Two End-Time Super Churches Will Arise

Posted by Admin David Wilkerson: Two End-Time Super Churches Will Arise David Wilkerson was the founder and Pastor of Times Square Church in New York City. In 1973 he received a vision of the end-times. In 1974 he shared his vision in a book, “The Vision“. He also summarizes what he saw in the 52-minute audio message shown below. Excerpts from parts of the audio are transcribed in this post. David Wilkerson’s vision aligns with warnings from Jesus, but with more details. Jesus warned us the world would enter into a time of birth pangs prior to the end of this age. The first event he identified during the birth pangs would be the rise of false messiahs, people who would present themselves as his followers, but in reality they would be his enemies, leading many of his people astray. And Jesus answered and said unto them, “Take heed that no man lead you astray. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ; and shall lead many astray.” (Matthew 24:4-5) David ...

Dr David Yonggi Cho: Pastor of world's largest congregation!

Posted by Admin David Yungi Cho (formerly known as Paul Yungi Cho) is a Korean Christian minister. He is Senior Pastor and founder of the Yoido Full Gospel Church (Assemblies of God), the world's largest congregation, with a claimed membership of 830,000 (as of 2007). He mastered English quickly, and became an interpreter for the commander of the army base, and also for the principal of his school. Ra...

Number 30 In the Bible | What’s the Significance of Age 30 in the Bible?

Posted by Admin Written by B. Page Well, I hit a pretty big milestone in my life a few months ago: I turned 30 years old. And with that new age, my lovely wife has jokingly let me know how old I’m getting (she’s still in her 20’s…for now). It has been an interesting experience for me transitioning from a “20-something” to a 30-year-old. I do feel like I am older, and a bit more mature and knowledgeable. I’m no longer a boy–I’m a man. I look like a man, talk like a man, and no longer feel as youthful as I did in my teen years. I can look back at my 20’s now as a completed time in my life (looking at my mistakes and triumphs), and push forward with my future hopes and aspirations. Nevertheless, I know I still have a lot of growing and learning to do as a Christian. Much more than I’d like, but God is merciful. What is neat to me though, is that apparently God really places a great significance on the age of thirty years old. What is it about turning 30 that God cares...

Kong Hee and City Harvest Church: How a music ministry led to a megachurch pastor's setback!

Posted by Admin Culled from christiantoday.com How are the mighty fallen! We don't usually think of pastors as mighty, though we know they fall. But the height from which Kong Hee fell is very considerable, and his conviction with five other staff members of Singapore's City Harvest Church for embezzlement has stunned his 20,000-strong congregation. The case follows the guilty verdict in the case of South Korean pastor David Yonggi Cho, founder of the world's largest church, who was found guilty of tax evasion and embezzlement last year and jailed. The Kong Hee case appears to epitomise most of what can go wrong with megachurch ministries. Kong, his deputy pastor Tan Ye Peng, finance manager Sharon Tan and former finance manager Serina Wee, were accused with former board members John Lam and Chew Eng Han of misusing $17 million from the church's building fund to further the music career of Kong's wife Ho Yeow Sun, known as Sun Ho. A further $18...

5 Destructive Lies You Tell Yourself Every time!

Posted by Admin Just go ahead and admit it. You’re lying to yourself today. Life gets complex, relationships get sticky, loneliness creeps in—and sometimes we just feel the need to bend the truth to make it through the week. We need our lies to keep the pain tucked away where it can’t get to us. That deceitful heart of ours has a way making it easy for us to be okay with these lies (Jeremiah 17:9)—that is, until they’re drawn out by God’s scalpel (Psalm 139:23). These lies don’t just cover up the pain of life, though. They actually make it harder for us to grow in our faith and in our connection with others. We’ve gotten so numb to them that we don’t necessarily even see the damage they do. But here’s one time when it’s definitely okay to “name it and claim it.” If we’re to get beyond these lies that we drag around with us, we have to identify them and call them what they are. Have you seen any of these 5 lies in yourself today? 1. I’m Okay. We don’t like to dig around ...
