My Oga-At-The-Top!

Posted by Admin

Wait o! Our Oga-at-the-top (Sir or Ma)! Come to think of it! The systemic and endemic corruption that has rendered our economy and nation to an almost stand still is possibly traceable to you too! You may ask me How and Why? OK! I will let you know now....
Without any iota of doubt, God has helped you attained that status of been a top official or principal officer in that establishment or organization. You now occupy a seat where you wield authority at will. You really must feel proud of that status and accomplishment that you now have whether through personal hardwork or favour.
You are more comfortable than your employees or subordinates without any prejudice to them anyway. You possibly drive a fantastic car, live in a comfortably built house or about to be completed, pay your children's school fee who are in choice schools, go for holidays, events and parties at will, etc. Anyway, they are all good and wonderful things because you think you deserve them but may I ask you this questions! Do you think your staffs, employees or subordinates are not also entitled to such life or privileges? Don't they also have families, children, desires and aspirations? The answer is that they all do but rather taken advantage of them because of the expansive supply of labour than demand is completely unfair. You may frown right now as if you don't give a damn but the truth is that you are sowing a seed into the future and the earlier you sow good seeds the better for you and that organisation of yours. You sitting on their money (Salary/Pension/Allowances/Benefits) unnecessarily at the expense of your own pleasure is not only ungodly and unfair but breeds negative consequences that spills over into our society and ultimately our economy. The money they are entitled to is an aggregation of their life invested into that organisation which is in terms of time, energy, skill and even resources and you are only exposing them to a life of corruption (stealing, falsification, bribe, disloyalty and low productivity) as a means of survival at the long run if you continue to deprive them indiscriminately.
Have respect of that man/woman within your leadership. You have no idea where God is taken them to and it might just be their turn then. Personally, I hate it when am undervalued or unappreciated in any setting. I rather seek a place where I would be able to pour out myself into a task placed before me with excitement and due diligence otherwise I would soon walk out of such set-up. Pay the people well and on time in order to save yourself from continuous high labour turnover you experience or low productivity you complain of always. These are more reasons why we continue to have system collapse, institutional failures and closures of firms. Most of them build business policies that don't directly impact on their staffs and customers but majorly on themselves (owner/management). You need more of your staffs' participation who directly relate to your customers and you also need the customers who hold the Money you need in exchange of the product offered or services rendered by you.
Whether you are a boss in the public service or private sector, you can make the most of human resource or capital at your disposal if only you will care more about them rather than on yourself only. Our country is in a big mess today because of issues like this. The earlier we begin to change the better for us. Everything starts from the head then the followers. You lead by example otherwise you are only taking a stroll alone without knowing. Anything you do is what you have given permission to others to do with or without your consent in case you don't know. Don't give your staffs or employees an occasion to ploy evil against you on the basis of how they are treated. Be wise and be smart with your dealings. You lead people not manage them because they worth more that material resource.
The change we advocate for must start with anyone who is a leader then everyone will soon follow either by force or by choice. Nigeria is too great to be experiencing this low life. Though, we have challenging times now but we must consciously and collectively play our role to make it better again through our individual attitudes and actions. May God help you my Oga-at-the-top and us all as we begin to live right. #massakinsechoes

POWER OF INFLUENCE

THE POWER OF INFLUENCE An individual begins to develop his or her leadership abilities when he or she starts to influence others towards a particular direction. The reason why you take the lead when you influence others is basically because we are dealing with humans. Other things such as animals, money and properties can only be managed and controlled before you can generate value from them or multiply their usefulness but for humans, it is a different case totally. We actually don’t manage people but lead them. There is a clear distinction between leading and managing. ‘To lead’ simply means to influence. It is to influence others towards the effective and efficient utilization of resources for the maximum productivity of the individual and ultimately the society. ‘To manage’ is to create a process of achieving certain objectives clearly set out through planning, organizing, controlling and directing of human resources. These two concepts are both important in any set...
